We were excited, albeit surprised, to learn we were pregnant with our first child. After trying the traditional route of visiting an OBGYN and being deeply disappointed with the level of care, we finally found our way to looking into the midwifery model.
At each stage of the process Karly’s care was personal, thoughtful, considerate, and exactly what I needed in that moment. Karly was very understanding of each of our lifestyle decisions and educated us on how to make the best decision for the health and well-being of our baby. I was not a “glowing pregnant lady” as some are, but having Karly there through the end gave me an immeasurable amount of comfort and confidence.
When the day finally came that we met our baby girl, Karly put up with my incessant text messages, “I think this is it! The contractions are x far apart!” and came over once things got under way. We had a long labor, throughout which Karly and her team were incredible. When I thought I couldn’t do it any more, they gave me just what I needed to keep going. When we got near the end Karly and I were a team, listening to my body to know when we were ready to push, and roughly 20 minutes later my husband caught our beautiful baby in our family home.She was born pink, healthy, and a happy baby. Now six months old she’s gaining weight beautifully and has almost tripled her bodyweight. The confidence and care I gained with Karly and her team prepared me to embark on this incredible journey. If I had to go back and do it all over again, I would have connected with Karly earlier in my pregnancy. I cannot recommend her enough, she’s amazing.
